Proverbs 9-10

Proverbs 9-10

Chapter 9: Walk in Intelligence

“Forsake the foolish, and live; and in the way of understanding.” (Proverbs 9:6)

This is essentially the theme for this Proverb. It goes on to say; “…rebuke [criticize] a wise man, and he will love thee.” (Proverbs 9:8)

Essentially if you criticize a wise man, he will love you. Why? Because if a wise man is wrong, he will love the fact that he has the opportunity to correct himself. A wise man, who is wrong and accepts it (swallowing his pride) is truly a WISE MAN.

Finally we end this Proverb by reminding us that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisom…” (Proverbs 9:10)

Chapter 10: Slanders are Fools

This Chapter is presumably written by Solomon. His words of wisdom are below:

                “…A wise son maketh a glad father…” (Proverbs 10:1)

“The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.”
                 (Proverbs 10:8)

“The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life…” (Proverbs 10:11)

“Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.” (Proverbs 10:12)

“Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction”
     (Proverbs 10:14)

“…he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.” (Proverbs 10:18)

“The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.” (Proverbs 10:27)
