Day 38; Alma 55-58

I am tackling the Book of Mormon in 60 days. My plan is to have the Book of Mormon studied by the end of 2011. During my challenge, I will post a daily blog of my reading, in this blog I will share with you... my thoughts, feelings, opinions and knowledge about the Book of Mormon. Do you have questions? Comments? Please... lets start a discussion. I would be more than happy to answer your questions, comments or concerns!

Scripture Thought (What I Learned):

Chapter 55: Moroni refuses to exchange prisoners - The Lamanite guards are given a gift of wine and become drunk. The city of Gid is taken without bloodshed and all the Nephite prisoners are released.

Chapter 56: Helaman writes to Moroni to give him an update on the war with the lamanites. Antipus and Heleman gain victory over the Lamanites, the Two Thousand Stripling Warriors fight with power from on high.
We learn that the 2,000 Stripling Warriors, although they had never fought... were not afraid of battle or death. "...they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them." (Alma 56:47)

Chapter 57: Helaman recounts the taking of the city of Antiparah and the surrender and defense of Cumeni. The Stripling Warriors fight diligently , most are wounded but none of them die.

Chapter 58: Helaman, Gid and Teomner take the city of Manti by stratagem and do not shed any blood. The Sons of the people of Ammon stand steadfast in their liberty and faith.
